About Eric.

My name is Eric Rutingabo Muhizi. I was born in Katanga, the Democratic Republic of the Congo. At a very young age, I and my six siblings were forced to flee our country due to multiple civil wars that took place in my hometown. My family migrated to Burundi in 2000 in search of a safe area we could call a new home. We lived in a refugee camp from 2000 to 2004. In 2004, we migrated to Uganda after seeing the genocide that took place in the Gatumba camp. Upon the USA reviewing our case, my family and I were granted a refugee status visa in September 2008 and settled in Oklahoma.

Today, I am dedicated to helping people in my community, acting as a leader and advocate for people back home. With God’s grace, I want to go back and give back to the community, knowing how it feels to walk in their shoes. I want to put a smile on every child’s face and empower them to grow with a purpose. My goal is to build an organization for people in need whether they are refugees, orphans, widows, or whoever needs help. I want them to grow with love, happiness, hope, and belief that they can achieve anything they set their mind to.
